DirectX Problems

Hello fellow gamers,

I just got DAI Deluxe for Christmas, and when I loaded it up, it gave me a DirectX error basically saying I didn't have the right version (at least DX10)

So, I went ahead and updated the driver for my Nvidia GTX 285 which version 340.52, and verifyed that I indeed have DirectX 11 (and was not crazy).

Started up the game after that, and lo and behold it made it to the title screen! Yaaay! Oh but then I just haaad to go check out what kind of settings it was running on default for graphics and clicked on the benchmark button in the menu........right to another DirectX error crash....

So, I reinstalled the game, restarted the computer, fired up the game again and now it says this after crashing:

DirectX function "device->CreateTexture1D( &texDesc1d, desc.subResourceCount != 0 ? reinterpret_cast< const D3D11_SUBRESOURCE_DATA*> (desc.subResourceData) :0, &texture->m_texture1d)" failed with E_INVALIDARG ("An invalid parameter was passed to the returning function."). GPU "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285", Driver 34052

Does this mean it doesn't like the driver version? My rig is up to spec on the game requirements, so I am perplexed as to why it would almost run the game, then decide it doesn't want to anymore.

HEEEEEELP!!!! 🙂

Thanks,

Me

    I actually got it to run (oh and by the way, thanks for your input on several other threads, they led me to the solution)

    I did this:

    1) I went to C:\Users\Your-Username\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save  and delete ProfileOptions_profile. (Don't worry, you will not loose any of your saves, This will set your game graphic low any reset any of your game setting to default such as :keyboard control, subtitles in game... you can switch these option back on later).

    2) I went to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\__Installer\directx\redist  or to the location that you have installed the game, then open DXSETUP and install directx (If you press install and it say that your computer has already install it or anything similar to that, then you should be fine).

    My card does support and runs DX11, and this random method fixed the problem

    Thanks again for the advice.

    Over time, a solution that doesn't replace a Dx10 GPU with the correct Dx11 GPU will fail.
