I haven't played Dragon age origins for a while.  last time I did it was working fine.  Now whenever I try to load it up it says 'failed to authenticate disc. please insert the correct disc and try again'

but it is the correct disc

Are you certain you were still using the OC disk, and not Awakening's disk instead?

  • Shouldn't matter.  If you have both installed, either disc will allow playing either.

(Can confirm as someone with the retail discs of DAO, DAA, DA/UE, multiple un- and re-installs of same, and now the EA/Origin digital download install of them all!)

I never thought it made terrifically good sense, but that's how it was that first year.

  • You can do away with the discs completely by downloading both games from the EA/Origin store at no charge.

Simply log-in to the Origin client and choose "Origin" from the top-line menu.  Then "Redeem product code" and enter your CD-key.

    Repeat for DAA.

  • yes, this was it.  was being a complete idiot and using the wrong disc....in my defence the right disc was in another game box

    thanks
