Display driver windows kernel mode driver, version 344.75 stopped responding

Anyone else with the same problem? I open the game, then the save, and get to play like 2-3 minutes then the screen freezes and the "display driver windows kerneld mode driver, version 344.75 stopped responding and was recovered" message pops up. I have no choice but to force-close the game. This was no problem until yesterday, when I downloaded the NVIDIA update. What am I supposed to do? I've tried re-installing and update all my drivers, but the problem still occurs. I play on high, and I've been doing that for the first 10 hours of the game without any complications. Why now suddenly?  It is really frustrating 😕mileysad:

It only happened to me twice so far of the 60 hours of total gameplay. Just before the driver crashed, noticed the gameplay was really stuttering.

Which could be due to the GPU throttling down when it overheats and eventually crashes...

  • That is not the issue at all. My GPU is GTX 970 and does not exceed above 65 degrees C. This card is rated at 95 degrees C after which throttling happens. Also this is isolated to just 1 game, I have ran a few gpu intensive games like crysis 3, metro last light.

  • this is true... almost all posters, reporting problems with this game, state that they are able to play other newest gen titles, without issue.

BF4, is on the same game engine, and works better than this game.

but yes this is a game specific (emmensely huge glitch/bug/ cluster-mess) which can only be fixed by BIOWARE,

    and NOT the gaming/modding community,

because of the constraints imposed by EA/DICE to not release it as a modable game.

Since turning off 'Origin in-game' overlay, I didn't experience this so far for the past 3 days. Will give an update tomorrow.

  • I've had Origin Overlay disabled since the start so that can't be the cause.

I tried rolling back to 344.65 and performing a clean installation and can report that I still get the same display driver not responding crash only this time it's link to 344.65 and not 344.75.

So it's definitely not the driver, having been on the Nvidia forums and spoken to their tech team, they are of the belief that this is a problem with the game's coding and that BioWare are the only people that can fix this.

  • No. Because not ONLY Inquisition HANGS PEOPLE!!! Kernel is unresponsive even during STARCRAFT II, Advanced Warfare, SImcity 2000 or even playing movies! It started to happen AFTER UPDATE. READ PREVIOUS POSTS!!!

The driver update made my computer unusable and rolling back to previous versions, clean installations - anything just doesn't work. I'm on my way to proving that the driver actually broke my card. If I will succeed they will pay A LOT for this. I'm furious. Invested a lot in my tech and now my computer is just piece of junk.

Sounds like more of an isolated issue to me, I don't have any of those.

Yea I can play other games completely fine as well, I play SC2 all the time and it's completely fine.

It's only DAI that seams to be causing me this issue with the Display Driver failing...

Tried uninstalling all those Microsoft Visual C++ rebooting then run CCleaner: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner to clean the registry, then install only those in the __Installer\vc\ folder in the Dragons Age Inquisition folder?
