DLC issue with Dragon Age Origins Ultimate digital edition

Why doesn' ANY of my DLC for Dragon Age: Origins ultimate digital edition work? I have it all authorized, and I can't find any of the files people have been noting because I used origins to download it, not steam. It's incredibly irritating. Absolutely none of the dlc works. Not Leliana's song, the Darkspawn Chronicles, not Return to Ostagar, none of it works. When trying to play the 'other campagins' it says "Cannot load module." And when I try to travel to Ostagar to continue the Return to Ostagar quest, it says "unable to load area". WHY. I have been looking for solutions that will actually solve my problem for a few days now, but I have not found anything. So I ask you, why could this happen, and what can I do to solve it?

    Hi nater117,

Maybe this fix from the BSN will help.

If not, can you give us more details about your system. Also do you have any 3rd party mods installed?

    Thanks,

    Eve

No, I have not installed the 1.05 path. When I attempted to do so, I got an error message about an "error opening file for writing: C:\Program files (x86)\common files\bioware\uninstall dragon age.exe"

And I don't understand what that means so I aborted the installation.

Should I ignore this problem and continue the installation?

  • I am hesitant to completely uninstall the game, becasue yes, I have some third party mods, and I don't know if I would have to redownload and install all of them if I uninstall dragon age completely.

I actually didn't have mods when I first ran into this dlc problem.

    I have Windows 7, 64 bit.

You will need to create a directory under C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\

Called "Bioware" some strange reason the installer does not create this folder.

    Then press the Retry button.

  • @nater117;

    a)  Unless you have installed a couple of very specific (and very early) mods for DAO, ("JB3's Textures" and "Dragon Age Redesigned" are really the only ones I can think of) there's no impact on your mods from doing an un-/re-install.

    b)  Modding a game means understanding what you're doing, or being willing to learn-as-you-go.  Backups and re-installations are part of the process.  If you don't know enough to about how mods work and/or you haven't saved local copies before installing them, and you're "afraid" of what might happen, then you have no business using them in the first place.  Don't want to do it?  Don't mod your game.

BTW:  Malignfox's advice looks worthless to me.  You don't have to create a new folder under "\Program Files" to install a patch. Please explain how you installed the game in the first place, and what you tried to do in install the 1.05 patch.  I'm pretty sure this can be resolved fairly easily.

  • I have actually discovered a solution. I guarantee that it works.

    1. Make a .txt file in your Documents folder and call it "Uninstall Dragon Age"

    2. Go into it (it'll obviously be blank) and save as .EXE

    3. Copy/Move the file that you just made

    4. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\

    5. If there is no "BioWare" folder, simply create one and Paste the "Uninstall Dragon Age.exe" that you made earlier

    6. Now hit "Retry" in the error box that prompted all this and it'll finish the installation

Hope this is of help to anybody out there!

@JimmySkaggs85 Didn't work for me. Unbelievable how difficult this process has been and will likely continue to be. Why can't they just have the game update like every other game and include the DLC's in the desktop app. I just don't understand how they could biff this so hard.
