DLCs and scaling foes?

Exploring the whole game as I always do...I often don't even unlock areas before getting leveled up really high or even maxed out.

So last night,I realized I hadn't been to the Deep Roads yet....and my whole team is level 27.

Starts off normal but that first Ogre shocked me a little when he started smacking me around like I was a level 1. lol

I killed him easily enough but he actually put a couple of my team down first.

So is everything on level with my team in the DLCs?

I don't remember Jaws of Hakkon being quite as difficult.

  • I almost wanted to tag @mckrackin5324 for advice until I realized that's you. What happened? Don't you normally kill dragons in two seconds? 😛

The Descent is more difficult than the base game, but should be very doable if you're properly equipped. I advise area of effect builds, because the DLC has larger waves of clustered enemies.

    What's your equipment currently?

  • @mckrackin5324 Enemies are only scaled (made equal or higher level) if you turn on a certain trial from Trespasser (I think it's Even Ground). Otherwise, enemies are the level they are (which is why the DLCs are recommended for certain levels).

The DLCs have a few enemies which are higher level than is possible for players (a certain group of Despair demons in JoH, and I think that Ogre at the start of Descent, maybe others). Guess they wanted to give us a bit of a challenge 😉

I was geared up to such an extent that the ogre wasn't a challenge, but merely a hassle, because it soaks up so much damage that it took a while to take it out.

The Descent gets truly frustrating once you meet enemies with

    Spoiler
    friggin' assault rifles! 😠

    lol...yeah.

I have beaten the game dozens of times now but have only played the Descent a couple times...find it tedious.

I just somehow didn't remember that Ogre being difficult at all but I probably did some silly Thousand Cuts move or something last time. hahaha

    Equipment?

Sera and the Inquisitor-Dual daggers 576 DPS per hand with fade touched Siverite for +5 guard per hit. Armor is Dragon bone made for 339 DPS protection with Fade touched Varghest hide in the Masterwork slot for +5 guard per hit.

I think Cassie and Varric may have been in street clothes. lol

I don't usually need them except to bash a wall or engergize stuff.

They armored and armed to the teeth now though.hahaha

It's funny...a friend and I were laughing about my team and she jokingly said..."they couldn't be more OP without using a cheat engine".

So we laughed a bit more....and downloaded Cheat Engine 😉

Now the game is truly broken. Probably delete this particular save.

Level 9 team of ridiculously OP freaks.

No abilities use any focus or Mana...can throw Thousand Cuts and Mark of the Rift like basic attacks.

I think I even got TWO Mark of the Rift rifts going at once while ago.

Just not as satisfying with an actual cheat though.

I'll record a couple minutes before I kill that save for you guys...it's kinda funny.

That Ogre is quite a different beast with both Walk Softly and Even ground on - and you thought dragons at level 10o were work LOL. Enjoy the challenge.

That's the thing that took me by surprise...This particular game is only on Hard with NO trials turned on. You know...just exploring at a level that doesn't let me one hit kill everything on the screen at once.lol...

LOL, try Nightmare with Even ground and Walk Softly - now lets see you one hit the DLC mobs especially. :P  Actually that is how I play most of the time, I like the challenge but, even then, all except the DLCs is a cake walk. The DLC, well, that's different and, that ogre is the single biggest nightmare in the game, aside form the other ogres later on in there LOL. Good fun 🙂
