Dragon age 2 Crash when going to sundermount

I bought dragon age 2 on origins on may 25. When ever i try to enter sundermount to complete the quest Long way home the game crashes on the loading screen and the message comes up saying that dragon age 2 has stopped working. Is there any way to fix it?

Patch 1.04

PC Specs

Processor: AMD Fx(tm)-6300 Six Core Processor 3.50GHz

Ram: 8.00 GB

System Type: 64-Bit

Windows 7

I have no mods installed except the HD texture pack, The black Emporium and the Dargon age 2 prmotional Pack

  • I have a MAC and every time i go to leave sundermount it force crashes and does a debug. I have tried it with different characters as well and I've saved the quest for last/first etc. Nothing changes the error/crash every time i try to leave (quest is complete with the amulet).

I'm having the same issue with my MAC. I originally played this game on a MAC years ago, and never had an issue. Now I would like to replay the game, and can't get past this act 1 mission.

  • @SilentDeath289;  No idea what may be causing this for you, but others with similarly inexplicable CtDs have reported success by doing one of the following:

    a. Update (or roll-back!) your video driver. (This is always the first thing to check.  And if things used to work but you recently updated it, it's worth checking if the previous one is better for you.)

    b. Reduce resolution setting to the minimum until passed the problem spot.

    c. Reduce graphics settings to the minimum until passed the problem spot

    d. If currently set to play with "Full-Screen", switch to "Windowed" until passed the problem spot.

    [EDIT:]

    e. It sounds weird, but check for an updated SOUND card driver.  Some CtDs are triggered of specific combinations of VFX+SFX.  (Especially since GPU driver updates now include HDMI audio drivers, even if you don't want to use 'em.)

Can't help you with Mac issues.

    Don't/won't use one.  😛

    Hey Flopp!

Is it the sundermount mission? I went through and replayed it again, leaving all but this mission and I still have a crash.

  • Confirmed.  I had this problem as well, and as the anti-mac guy above suggested, turning down my settings and switching to windowed mode 800x600 allowed me to get past the cut scene.

Also I have mods installed.  They were not the problem in this case.
