Dragon Age 2 No Sound in Full Screen Mode

I have DA2 for the PC and when I try to play it in Full Screen mode, all the sound gets muted. There's no music, no sound effects, no dialogue, nothing. All of these things are still turned on when I go to audio settings, however. Playing the game in Windowed mode gives me sound, but the window is too small on my computer to actually see what's happening.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and the game worked once, but when I reopen it now it's back to no sound again.

I'm playing on PC and downloaded straight from Origins.

  • Is there any chance the wrong audio device is trying to take over when the game is in full screen? You might want to disable any sound device you're not using in the Windows sound control panel. To find it, open the Windows control panel (Windows logo + 1 on your keyboard), then hardware and sound and click Sound.

Sometimes you might not be aware of some devices also being audio devices, like for instance graphics cards or PlayStation controllers.

  • @JediNikina ;  Especially check that your audio OUTPUT device didn't get changed.  When I mess with my video settings I have found that sometimes my audio has switched to "HTML output", even though my monitor doesn't have speakers!

@Fred_vdp Thank you it was my p4 controller that stopped sound from working lol

This happens to me all the time! When I want to play a game with a controller, I plug it into a USB port, and lo! My audio is gone!
