Dragon Age 2 won't launch.

Evening all,

I’m having trouble, Dragon age 2 will not launch. Typically the logo appears before the program returns to not running status, sometimes not even that. This occurs both on Steam and EA app, I own the game on Steam.

Steam help pointed the finger at EA, said the issue is not w/ their client.

I have already tried the following fixes

  • Clearing cache (both apps)

  • Reinstalling Steam + ea app clients

  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the game

  • Turning off Steam overlay

  • Disabling background services

  • Updating graphics driver

  • Disabling antivirus software

I have attached the dxdiag file to this post, as far as I am aware my computer meets the system requirements but if this is not the case…?

EA help has said they cannot do anything more and have referred the problem to another level and that I will be hearing from someone soon, but it’s impossible to know if this will actually happen.

  • The DxDiag reports several crashes referring to nvwgf2um.dll, which is from Nvidia, so it's related to your graphics card and/or graphics drivers.

According to your DxDiag, your graphics driver is from June 2015, but the Nvidia website has more recent drivers from 2016.

Maybe you should try that. If that fails, consider a clean driver installation. The website rules says I can't link to every site, but I have used Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in the past for this.

  • Alas, no such luck ☹️ but poggers for thinking of something I hadn't tried yet! @Fred_vdp

I guess this computer is just too old...
