Dragon Age Inquisition - Direct X Error

Hi there! 

Does it happen as soon as  you start the new DLC area? Does it let you get into Character selection? Can you get into Skyhold? 

I am having this issue as well, it happens only at the war table so far.

I'm having the same issue.  Last time I played the game (back in February) everything was fine; but today I started getting that GetDeviceRemovedReason error pretty much every time I did something that triggered a cutscene.  I was able to get past the War Room by changing my display mode to Windowed Fullscreen, but then it froze up on me during the initial scene with Scout Harding when I first went to the new area.  So far I haven't had any troubles when I'm just running around in the world; it's just cutscenes that are messing me up.

Drivers and game are fully up-to-date.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I also have this issue where the game crashes at the war table.  No other game gives me this direct x error. SLI 780s with 347.88 drivers.

Couple of things you can try:

Setting postprocessing to Low.

Playing in fullscreen windowed mode.

I do not have SLI, but I have seen some people have success in disabling it.

Or you could try to remove / move out ProfileOptions_profile and ProfileOptions in your savegame directory and restart your game. Note that this will reset all in-game settings back to default values. Worked for some people (including myself) who had issues with the game crashing due to graphical issues (DirectX / video-card specific) after installing Patch 6.

If the problem still persists, then try checking out some solutions offered in the big DA:I is not working / crashing / performing well thread or at the PCGaming wiki.

If those solutions do not work, then I'm afraid it'll be a matter of trial and error with options to see what will work best.

It happens, randomly, when some cut scenes come up. happens with video cards (GTX TB) in sli or disabled. Really only started to happen to me in the last three days or so, and could be game patch or Nvidia driver update, both of which happened for me about the same time. DLC was working fine when I was in it before.

I am also having issues with directx device hung crash randomly during game play, this is happening even after I updated my geforce driver to 350.05 version.

I have a i7-3770k, 32gb ram, gtx 670 x2 sli

Ever since I changed my Geforce driver from 350.05 to 341.44 I have not had a single DirectX crash, I have been playing for the last 5+ hours continuously with no issues.

I am running 2x GTX 670 sli at 1920x1200, with settings set slightly above the Geforce Experience recommendations.

I played DA:I for almost 600 hours without a single crash.  Then suddenly I got six crashes in one day, all at the war table when clicking on a mission.  Crashed to the desktop with the same Direct X error.  Now, after almost 600 hours of playtime and no crashes, I know it's not the game itself.  The only thing that  happened was an Nvidia driver update (the one BEFORE the current version 350.12).  Several days later (4/13/15), Nvidia released the newest driver, version 350.12.

I installed this driver, ran the file check utility on DA:I, loaded the game and haven't had a crash since.  Have logged another 20-25 hours of game time and about 12-15 operations  from the war table with out a problem.  If you look at the full release notes on this driver, it did address a DirectX issue.

System:  I7-4790 @4.0 Ghz, 2-GTX780ti's in SLI, 32gb DDR3 memory, Samsung 840 Evo 750gb hd.
