Dragon Age: Inquisition Issue: Please update your NVIDIA GeForce driver

So I installed Dragon Age: Inquisition and I can't play because my graphic driver's version is stuck at version 337. I have an ASUS Republic of Gamer's G771JM laptop that has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860m graphics card. After contcating ASUS they told me that the version of my graphics card is the latest for all ASUS users and that I'd have to wait until they release an updated version of them for ASUS users. After asking how soon that would be they told me it would be soon, and that I should check their website daily. It's been a little over a month now and still nothing. I was wondering if there was any way I could bypass this issue I'm having. Any help is appreciated.

Here is a brief discussion on ASUS drivers vs Nvidia drivers:

I know when I first booted up DAI on my PC I also got the error code about updating my Nvidia drivers, and I am on Win7, so it is not just 8.1. Unfortunately, DAI has some software check on startup and it won't let you play unless you are on a minimum drivers version. First time I've seen that, but there it is.

So if you want to play DAI on that lap top, you are going to have to try the Nvidia drivers. From the few discussions I could find on the web, it seems either the Nvidia drivers won't even install, or tend to run fine. in that thread above someone who worked for ASUS mentioned stability issues though with other drivers than Nvidia. But it is either potential issues (unlikely) or no game, so it is up to you.

I can't install any NVIDIA drivers. Up to this point I have been under the impression that this error code was because all ASUS users can't install NVIDIA drivers unless it's directly off of their driver page. Error: http://puu.sh/f4zyR/d94343ccb5.jpg. This error occurs on every driver update after my current version (.337)

  • That error code means that your video card is modified significantly enough by ASUS that the Nvidia base drivers do not recognize it, and therefore will not install. So only the ASUS drivers will suffice. Since they are not updating their dirviers, you will not be able to play DAI using that video card.

So you will have to switch to using the Integrated Intel card as your primary video card for DAI, but as I said it is probably going to only play at minimum graphic settings, if at all. You may be able to upgrade the ASUS/Nvidia card if you are willing to spend the money, but I wouldn't know how as I've never owned or tried to upgrade a notebook. If it is not a spearate component, then that may be out of the question. If you are not sure, you can post a question on the Tom's Hardware forums and you may get a helpful response.

But if the Intel card is no good and you can't upgrade the notebook for money or technical reasons, then you will not be able to play DAI until you are able to purchase some new hardware or ASUS feels like putting out some new drivers. Sorry.

I have already mentioned when I attempt to launch the game with my Intel graphics card (by setting it to default and making sure it opens with it), that it still forces itself to launch with my NVIDIA graphics card.

EDIT: After restarting, running with my Intel card works, but I get 5 FPS max on lowest settings and everything is in slow-motion. The only way I can play is if there is a way to switch my graphics cards while in the game or find a way to make the launcher ignore my Graphics Driver version.
