Dragon age inquisition multiplayer

I have tried hosting a lobby both private and public with a friend online only to have a servor error pop up continuously. I can join quick matches and can host a lobby of randoms but not with my friend? I thought the point of multiplayer was to actually play with my friends on origin. I honestly am trying you first since you have direct ties with bioware if no answer can be found here i will have to contact their company as well. hopefully a patch or resolution can occur soon.
