  • What is this thing with elementalists?

I've had the key-drop bug in parties with no elementalists. I've also played an elementalist for hours without ever seeing the bug at all. And then some yahoo pops into our game as a fourth and starts cussing at me right out of the gate for playing an elementalist while we were still in the lobby. After we kicked him, I've been trying to find information about the problem, but I havent seen anything except random speculation to explain that level of socially inept nerd-rage a**hattery.

I have my own speculation, that the key drop bug happens more often in Orlais than any where else. Now I play the Elven Ruins almost exclusively. And I've played elementalist without ever seeing it there.

In the Tevinter Ruins, we experienced a problem where if we tried to retrieve a weapons cache as a mission, the person hosting would crash to desktop, and one other party member, sometimes the one trying to interact with the cache, sometimes not. We were able to repeat the behavior with four different hosts in a private game, again no elementalist in the party.

The only thing for sure is that it all started happening after the MP DLC. I think I'll get rid of it too. Too annoying, too bugged, too mind-boggling that something so broken got released for us to beta-test.

    Edit: I'm on a PC.

It has something to do with the meteor shower(not tthe name) the bug happened to me a lot with the elementalist and since I stop using that ability on the finnal group I've only had it happen once in 10-15 games rather than every other game.
  • Although everything has been said (at least by players *cough*), I would just like to say: This is frustrating. It happened every third-fourth game today. Combined with other known bugs like "can't move" or "random crash" it comes down to "every other game" I can actually play.

Also, there seems to be no comment on those problems by EA/Bioware staff. The Bioware-Community on DA:I is a joke, and so is this one. Maybe EA should invest in community management again, even though they get our money anyway.

  • Not a good answer at all.  You can't make people wait months at a time with a game breaking bug preventing progression at a steady pace.  You can't expect people to stick around with your game when you function like this.

Instead of Bioware striking when the forge is hot, they let it simmer and let the fires die completely.  I've grown so tired of having to deal with the key bug that i've stopped playing entirely.  Its disgraceful.  Not to mention the many other character breaking bugs in MP that are still around since day 1.

I laughed when I played the other day and had the Rampage bug present itself again.  I was like, this is Day 1 bug that still hasn't been addressed in a hotfix or emergency patch?  I laughed because I felt embarrassed for Bioware and its inability to make a game that can function properly.  It was really just sad.  Are you guys a 1 man Indy Team, or are you a Multi-million dollar gaming industry?  Seems to me by the way you guys release games, 1 man teams is most assured.

From personal experience, I experience the bug in almost every party that has an elementalist. I can run 'bug free' for hours without it, and suddenly when I'm in a group with an elementalist, it happens again. There's just too much of a concidence for me and others to ignore it. Most tie it to the fact that it happens when Firestorm is used.

Call it random speculation all you want, but when enough people are saying its happening to them then its hard to ignore. Especially when some say that not having to play in parties with elementalist decreases the rate at which they get the bug. Not eliminiate it completely, clearly, but decrease the frequency.

Yes. I have had games where the key-drop bug happens without elementalists, but for some reason the frequency of it happening to me with Elementalists is just too freaking high. Obviously, I can't explain it, I'm not a technical engineer working for it and I rather obviously not blame people for playing Elementalists because its what they want to play.

I just want this fixed so I don't have to dread not being able to finish my game if an elementalist decides to pop into my game on the fourth room.
