Not sure if you're still wondering this, but I can tell you from personal experience that a USB3.0 7200 RPM expansion drive won't hinder gameplay. Most games don't care too much about load times beyond the loading screen itself, so you really won't notice. Any games that you'd like to load fastest should be on your SSD... other than that, a simple, USB powered expansion drive will work absolutely fine!
