Solved

Dragon Age Inquisition won't launch.

I recently bought DAI and I've been looking forward to playing it, except that the game won't run when I launch it!

I've tried every solution I can find for this problem, but nothing works. I've updated my drivers, I've run DAI and Origin as administrator, I've done the repair option, I've installed the necessary programs that are inside the DAI folder and inside the "_Installer" folder, so that would be directx and everything inside the "vc" folder.

I honestly have no clue what to do now, I need some help.

Here's a link to the specs of my laptop: http://hastebin.com/avacituhot.tex

  • Thanks for the update. Can you try restarting your machine with a Clean Boot and see if that helps? Perhaps there's an interfering 3rd party program.

Terrakat, did you have any mods installed? if so remove these. Otherwise please try running a repair. Right-click the game panel to get this option.

    @megatrondur

He hid all Microsoft services and then disabled all the rest to see if it was caused by one of them.  Basically he turned off all services BUT microsoft and it worked.  If you are having an issue, may I suggest you post up a DxDiag file and exactly what is happening and maybe we can help you.

A clean boot, or diagnostics boot does help in figuring out whether it is cross program interference or not, and this maybe your issue, but if it isn't then post up more data and we can continue.

@mcsupersport - thx for that valid input 🙏 ...however I solved it, by disabling Windows10-64bit Defender, firewalll and virus. Earlier when I disabled Windows Services i had issues after reboot, and no game would launche, and Lan/WiFi direct don't work.

And thanks to you @ArtMANro 👍

Well its now 2022 and I bought the game on a steam sale. I launch the game Origin comes up and nothing. you got really smug with the last person so lets see, I have Ryzen 5 5600x , RX 5700 XT , m.2 gen4 2TB with 1+ TB Free, 32 GB ram... I have tried all the fixes I can find and nothing, side note steam says I have played for 7 min yet I can not even get the game to open.

@GreenMage78 Post up a DxDiag file so we can see what is going on with your system and some of the hardware and stuff.  Also, things to try, putting Origin and Steam as run as administrator, and then if that doesn't work, alternating one or the other only as Administrator.  Most common issue is some form of cross program interference, meaning another program on your system interferes with the game running.  There are some instances that it just will not run, but most times it can be fixed with a little effort and playing around with your system.

As far as run time of the game goes, it isn't uncommon for the game process to be running in the background even after it crashes or fails to start and this will run up the the "play time" listed by steam....and has been known to cause issues with getting refunds due to a process not closing and going over the refund limit.

@GreenMage78 Sadly nothing jumps out in your DxDiag file, meaning either the fault logs at the bottom are already taken up with the LEDkeeper and Humankind Bex/stackhash interference, or whatever is causing your issue isn't setting a code there....

You said you have tried all the fixes....but didn't list which so please excuse these suggestions if you have already done them.

    1)  Clean boot...disable EVERY non-essential program on start-up and see if just the bare minimum can run the game.  Doing this is looking for a cross program interference.

    2)  Disable AVirus program temporarily and seeing if it works.

    3)  Trying to run the game ONLY through Origin, and seeing if you have to have steam up.

    4)  Disable Steam overlay in the game, but leave up Origin overlay.

    5)  I didn't see any Steele or Razor products installed, but if in the past they were, remove the program from your system and recheck, as it interferes.

    6)  Known programs that interfere, Steele, Razor, teamviewer12(or was it 13..), AVG/Avast Anti-virus, and believe it or not an IBM(iirc) banking program used by some online banks.

  • Just started having this problem after being forced to install the EA app. Game just wont start. I was playing it fine the other day, nothing has changed other than the EA app.
