Beginning from Tuesday, a week past, the Origin client software has been broken, and not fixed correctly yet. It affects different games and systems in a variety of ways. If doesn't affect everyone; however, if you are affected, it coincides with your own problem (you probably had both downloaded at the same time). You can see if you disable the "in-Game" overlay for the time being, and play the single player mode until it is repaired, is that a usable workaround.
NO. Disabling the "in-game" overlay does NOT solve the problem for everyone. I already had Origin-in-Game disabled before the update that broke the Origin client software. I've turned it off religiously every time I've attempted to update or reinstall Origin. Turning it off has NO effect: DA:I still won't load.
Oh, and I've never played multiplayer, only single-player. Not sure how that's relevant, though, since whatever keeps even the initial splash screen from loading has very effectively disabled all modes of play.
Last night I uninstalled and reinstalled DA:I without reinstalling the DLC pack (or any other DLC, or any mods--not that I ever had any mods installed in the first place). DA:I updated, presumably to Patch 6, but it STILL won't load. Clearly the problem is with the Origin client.
Yes, I realize that this is a user-to-user help site. However, EA's official help pages--and every other official EA page connected with Origin or DA:I that I've seen--say ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about this problem, how to work around it, or what progress if any they've made on a real solution. Basically, EA appears not to even be admitting the problem exists.
