I also got the 0xc000007b error each time I tried starting the game and finally got it to work.
What finally solved it for me was taking below 2 actions and re-installing/repairing C++, .netframework and directx
Only doing 1 step didn't solve it for me, I needed to add dll files in both folders to get it to work.

Open the zip file and copy those files to your C:\Windows\System32 folder

running on Windows 7 SP1
