Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition-Invisible follower

I've been playing DAO UE for a week now with no problems.Until after the Landsmeet when Alistair comes thru the door after my HF Noble announced that he will be king with her at his side to speak to...

The door opens-I hear his footsteps,but he's invisible & the dialogue he would have had with her doesn't happen.
When I go to pick my party he is still invisible.I can't pick him at all.
There's an empty space where he usually stands. My computer just recently upgraded itself to Win 8.1.
Is that the problem?
Has anyone ever heard of this problem? My game is a digital download from Origin.
Please let me know if you know of a way to get him back & fix it. Thank you

I took used my dog whistle to remove my extra dog slot & un summoned my animal (warden is a Ranger) before entering the Landsmeet. No more invisible Alistair. Thank you
