Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition
Recently purchased DAO Ultimate Edition and was lucky enough to receive one of the copies with the faulty registration codes (the 16 digit codes instead of 20). After 3 rounds on the phone with the ea help team I have finally got both the original and expansion added to my origin account. The original game and DLC download, install and play without an issue.The fun starts when you try to install the expansion. It downloads fine but when the installation tries to run after a fewsseconds I get a pop up with an exclamation mark, no message and a ok button. After doing some reading online I have found and tried the following all without success:
1 - Redownload the files to ensure they are not corrupted
2- Reinstall the original game and then try again
3- Go into the origin game folders find the installer exe and run it in windows 2000 compatibility mode. (This produces an error message saying that the language setup of the original doesn't match thr expansion which as far as I can see isn't correct as I made the same language selection for both when redeeming the codes.
4 - Go to the bioware social page and download and install patch 1.05
5 - Start the game and create a character so you have a user profile.
I am currently running on a windows 7 64 bit pc with amd quad core processor and an ati hd graphics card. The pc is well above the minimum spec and has plenty of free hard drive space.
Pretty much out of ideas and can't seem to find any other solutions online and not sure I can spend another evening on the phone to the ea call centre. So any suggestions greatly appreciated.
