Dragon's Age Origins won't load anymore since windows 10 ver. 1607 installed

Hi all,

     Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm not sure what caused my origin game "Dragon's Age Origins" not to load. I've recently updated to Windows 10 Anniversary Edition version 1607 for my Windows 10 Pro 64bit system. I also uninstalled my Nvidia drivers along with Geforce Experience that came with my previous card Geforce GTX 770 4gb by PNY.  Then I ran DDU to uninstall all  traces of the driver. Ran ccleaner to remove all traces of bloat in my registry. Then I installed my XFX Radeon R9 390x 8gb GPU. Booted into windows to install Crimson drivers from AMD.

    Right now I can't play "Dragon's Age Origins" without getting," missing dll error". I can load the other two games on my account with no problems. I can't seem to figure out what is causing this error. I have tried uninstalling it and downloading it again. I still get that error. Can someone please help me with this problem?

  • Hello @decat24.

    We should see the screenshoot of error. And yet u can try this:

    a) all install run as Admin;
    b) before install this, delete all already installed versions;
    c) if you have x64 OS, you'd install x32 and x64 packages of all versions:

  • Does it state which dll? common dlls to be missing or inaccessible is Direct x related, try reinstalling direct x, from the game's folder \redist [or something like that]. If you use sweet fx or something turn it off.... I could offer a ton of suggestions if you could specify which dll.

    If it specifies which dll you could search the dll on google, [usually the first result carries the newest version] download it, and put it in the location of the games .exe[every ,dll in the directory of an exe is ls launched with the exe automatically] (another terrible flaw of windows, [dynamic link libraries and registries])

    It shows up as missing dll {NxCharacter.dll} Error  0x7E. Also I've tried uninstalling the Origin client with the games. Then I downloaded the games back. Bejeweled 3 & Nox plays fine. It's just the game "Dragon's Age Origin" won't load after I updated my OS to version 1607.

    @decat24

    The "NxCharacter.dll" is part of the PhysX software for DAO.

    Try to reinstall the "PhysX_9.09.0408_SystemSoftware.exe" from ">drive<:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Origins\redist" > reboot > test.

    If that not helps, deinstall the "Nvidia PhysX Systemsoftware" from your Windows control panel, (could be that there isn't one because of your AMD Card, then skip this part)  reboot and then download and install this version. > reboot > test.
