[EA app] Dragon Age II Running as Background Process

hello

i have tried about everything i could find on the internet to reboting my drivers, putting the game/ea app as exceptions, clearing cache a dozen times, and other stuff, and the game still wont stop running only as background process its so frustanting

and when i try running it with playnite i get the missing ssleay32.dll and fixes around that havent worked either.

for context dragon age origns ran fine and when i tried dragon age inquistions it did as well

i have an older laptop that is an acer with a gtx 940 but i attached an dxdiag file that must have all the details

There is a VIDEO_ENGINE_TIMEOUT_DETECTED error in your DxDiag:

    • Follow this manual to the letter to cleanly uninstall all NVIDIA Graphic driver components.
    • Follow the manual again to cleanly uninstall all Intel Graphic driver components.
    • Install the intel graphic driver
    • Install the NVIDIA graphic driver.
    • Test.

Hey, @jupparo So with these games, we would need you to run it specifically off the EA app if that is where it was purchased. Running it off other programs like playnite are technically not supported. For the moment, we would first need to use the EA app launcher, run it, check for errors etc and go from there.

Using another launcher like this one, mods, etc would be an at your own risk type of deal.

yes, i have been trying to run it off the ea app as well, when i do it shows the "preparing game" pop up for a bit, it closes then "nothing" happens but the game is running on the background whenever i open task manager

Restart your PC. (A real restart, not just shut down and start again.)
Make sure that your games run on the NVIDIA GPU and not on the Intel GPU.

    • Open the NVIDIA Control Panel > 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings.
    • Go to the ab "Program Settings" Tab > Search for "DAO" in the first drop down menu.
    • Go to: "Select the preferred graphics processor for this program" > Select the NVIDIA High Performance Graphicprocessor > Apply.

If this setting is missing look at this guide.
