I have a similar issue. You see, my party does load, but my characters (even my inquisitor) are like paralyzed, with their arms extenden and not performing animations...
I am alos having this problem. All of my characters are paralyzed like they are being crucified. They can still fight, butthey move slower and there are no combat animations, which makes the battle too hard to complete. Plus Blackwall won't activate his abilities..

Set the graphic lower and reload. Solved the problem in my case.
I've found that if you alt-tab during the loading screen right before the boss fight, it seems to avoid that specific case. Worked for me 3 out of 3 times, at least.
Okay, a lot of people in this thread had derailed the issue of the Original Post.
Yes, there is the glitch where your party turns into puppets and so far a lot of you have figured out a work-around.
For the Original Post, myself, and several other people--- we're stuck with NO party members. Hell, even if we had a puppet party, I'd at least have the hope of the "reload"-workaround.
As it is, I'm stuck at the Envy Demon--- alone. As a Melee Rogue.
