Error initializing PhysX

I have recently downloaded and installed the latest Steam version of Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate on my PC.

I can't find anything that tells me what version this is or whether it includes the latest patches but I assume Steam does this automatically.

PC info:
Toshiba Notebook/Satellite
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz
8 GB RAM

AMD Radeon HD 7670M
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Basic

64 bit operating system
DirectX 11

After opening the main DA menu I press play and get the following message - 'Error initializing PhysX. Please visit nvidia.com/physx for updated drivers' and the game will not open after this.

I have tried the latest driver 9.13.1220 but I still get the same message, I even tried drivers from 2009 and 2012. I have uninstalled and reinstalled them many times now but nothing. I have read through many similar queries and the only answer I see is install the new driver which I have done. However, I see that this has only helped some people.

I have Mass effect 2 installed which seems to have a similar setup using physx and it works fine, infact it doesnt matter what version of physx I have installed, they all seem to work for ME2. So I get the feeling its something to do with the DA config that I've downloaded.

Here's my bin_ship folder contents:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition\bin_ship
DAUpdater.Engine.dll
DAUpdater.exe
DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe
fmod_event.dll
fmodex.dll
icsharpcode.sharpziplib.dll
msvcp71.dll
msvcr71.dll
nxcharacter.dll
nxcooking.dll
speedtreert.dll
umbra.dll
unrar.dll
binkw32.dll
DAOrigins.exe
DAOriginsConfig.exe
DAOriginsGDF.dll

I'd be grateful for any help on this.
Thanks.

PhysX is a utility for the graphics that EA / Bioware pay fees to include.  The fees go to nVIDIA.  You need the PhysX that Dragon Age recognizes, and you must go to nVIDIA to get it, if Steam fell down on the job.

Gorath_the_Elder, I'm not sure what you are saying here? are you saying that EA don't offer technical help to people who bought EA games from Steam? and are you saying that regardless of this we should seek technical help directly from EA sub contractors when EA games don’t work? In other words are you saying that EA are not going to help with this problem?

I have installed the latest driver from NVIDIA and still get the same problem.  Interestingly, I get the same problem with Dusk 12 ?  I am just thoroghly fed up with buying games off Steam that then don't run coz you have to fix this driver or that driver or change this ini file or that !!!  The annoying thing is that the game ran for 2 uses and everything was OK and then it crashed at start with this darn error !!

    Regards

Try this. Uninstall physx via control panel, then navigate to C:\Nvidia\DisplayDriver\344.75(latest driver)\Win8_WinVista_Win7_64\International\Physx.

    And double click Physx_9xxxxx_systemSoftware.msi.
