Exception code c0000005 problem

Dragin Age Origins - Ultimate Edition (bought on Steam) with many mods.

Win 7 Pro SP1. i7 CPU 930 @2.8 GHz, RAM 6 GB, Video nVidia GTX 780 4GB, all Windows updates installed, no pirated software, no anti-virus / firewall. Video driver: GeForce 335.23.

The first hour or so worked fine, but once got back from the Harrowing and started walking around the Apprentice Quarters, the game reliably crashes somewhere around the area where the teachers tells the kids about their responsibility as mages. I'm not interacting with anything when it crashes, just walking around. The exception code is c0000005.

The mods are:

Advanced Tactics 31-181

Alley of Murders 616

Combat Tweaks v32 - PAR -354

CT SP Module Fixes

Emmisaryv 103-1152

mengtzu_cw 1-1

Morrigan Restoration Patch v 110

no helmet hack 1.6

storage chest

xatmos lock bash

Dragon Age Redesigned 7.3d

All other games run fine (Age of Wonders III, South Park, League of Legends, Wildstar beta, Heroes of the Storm alpha, etc.)

Any help would be appreciated!!

I am having the same issue. Depending on what character I am trying to play will determine where the crash happens but it does so EVERY time I get near that area which in the case of every toon is a story critical event.  I purchased the game through Steam if that makes a difference.  I have windows 7.  I meet the requirements system-wise to play the game and it ran fine for nearly 60 hours before it started crashing.  I had not yet added any mods nor had I used any cheats.  I have validated all local files using steams repair option.  I have even uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, to no avail.   Starting new characters is no help as the quickly crash as well  just a few minutes into the story.   Here is the error information I am getting each time.

Since I see that no one has answered the gentleman that originally posted here I am not too hopeful that I will receive any support from Bioware or EA however I would really rather not get a refund on the product since I absolutely love the game that I have been able to play thus far.  However, if I receive no help; then I will have no choice but to return it as a defective product.

  • The game is not "defective".  Millions of players, on all platforms, are playing successfully.

(Besides making sure that your game is patched to v1.05) In the case of the OP, the first thing to do is remove all mods and play through the point at which the crash occurs.  If that fixes the issue, then you know what to do...
