Freezes during dialogue

When I am in conversation with an NPC, the screen freezes for about one second when the 'response' bar pops up at the bottom. It happens in every conversation, with every character. When I leave a conversation, it will freeze once again for a second.

I had the problem earlier today, 53 hours into my total play time of DA so it was weird to suddenly start happening. I also had a few problems with face models - Morrigan's portrait was far too dark, and the simple dwarf at camp had a much whiter face than usual. After a game restart earlier, it went back to normal, but now - a few hours later - the chat problems have returned. And restarting the game doesn't fix it.

Any advice at all is greatly appreciated.

I forgot to mention steam, sorry about that.
Anyways, Steam always force to update to the last version, so u should be fine with that.
I will install my DAO to check it more deeper but, try if any of this help u.
1. Check your drivers
2. Disable Audio and try if u get freeze issue.
3. U have the Automatic screenshot option activated? If u do.. Try to disable it (I don't remember right now where is it)
I hope any of those help u to find the issue.

Have u installed any mod able to modify Models/Animations? Maybe any mod its causing an issue due incompatibility.
U can try to repair the client from Origin (I'm not sure if DAO have that option, I never pay attention to that until I need it..) If u have a retail version u can try to reinstall.
Another question, that happen to ALL conversation or just a specific ones?

I haven't got any mods, and I can't repair it from Origin because I don't have Origin. It's from Steam, so I don't have the disc either.
If I need to download it again, that's a shame -- my download speed is horrific out here in the countryside.
It is happening with *most* characters, although I have since spoken to Morrigan and our conversation was smooth. In speaking to other NPCs, the freezing issue disappeared but was replaced by a problem in which when you click a dialogue option, it would jump a bit and immediately skip a few seconds of conversation. But the original freezing issue remains.
I was instructed by the person on the EA Help twitter account to download the latest patch; I have done so, but I can't run it because Steam will only let me use the original version of the game. >.<
