Freezing and Framerate issues (PS3)

Guys, I'm experiencing some recurring bugs in DA:I for the PS3.

Freezing: Random system lock-ups, quite often on fast-travelling back to Haven, but occasionally out in the Hinterlands or Lost Coast. Unable to use the PS button to go back to the PS ribbon - only option is to hard reboot.

Framerate: Relatively new bug - walked out of dungeon with both the Herald and Solas carrying veilfire torches, and framerate dropped to a crawl (unplayable). After a few minutes I was able to save and quit, but loading the same save resulted in the framerate dropping to the point where it stutters and is un-playable.

Any other PS3 players having similar problems, and are there any settings that can be modified to help?

welcome to the ps3 users club: we pay the full price and we have an unplayable game.

my ps3 keep freezing more often, so i stop playing before throwing the game and the console too.

nb: i have a 500gb ps3, one of the last model on the market and i never have this issues with any other game.

  • There are two things that normally help performance issues on PS3:

1.Rebuild PS3 database Sometimes it also helps to rebuild your PS3's database as described here:  http://www.ps3blog.net/2011/01/28/tips-and-tricks-ps3-rebuild-database-faq-recovery-menu/

    2.  Turn off the PS3 Media Server which is a resource hog taking up system resources that DAI really needs to work. The Media Server Connection allows other devices to connect to your PLAYSTATION 3. Often, the Media Server Connection is known to cause issues when players try to connect to the Internet for online game play.

    1. Access your Xross Media Bar menu
    2. Navigate to Settings
    3. Select Network Settings
    4. Select Media Server Connection and choose the Disable option.

Thanks ragnarok013 - I'll try that this evening and report back.  Fingers crossed.

  • I had this problem before.

FREEZING: all I did was restart the game. Luckily I was only 5 hours into the game so not that big of a loss to me.

FRAME RATE DROP: I just loaded a save before it dropped. I figured it was the area I was playing in. Fixed it just fine.

    Just a couple of suggestions.
