Game Crash on attempting to travel to Western Approach

Everytime I attempt to enter the Western Approach, the load does not progress or continue. The cards appear, and I can flip through them, but it never moves to the next step. I left the game running ...

You most likely have a bad save file. Corrupted.

Try loading the save you made before this?

I have exactly the same issue, my game crashes with a DirectX error every time I try to enter the Western Approaches. This is game breaking. And it is completely unrelated to 'bad save files' - This happens with a new game too.
