Game lags and stutters when laptop is plugged in

So I have DA:I on PC, on my ACER laptop to be exact and when it's on battery power it runs great, it's on medium to low settings and very rarely do I ever have lag/frame rate issues. But the second I plug it in framerate issues galore. It skips and lags and is unplayable, even in the main menu with the templars and mages marching it does this. 

I've tried turning down the settings and it does nothing, stays the same. I've only seen this on DA:I, no other game. Which sucks because I'm loving this game but don't have time to play it really until my battery dies...

My graphics card is an NVIDA GeForce 850 I believe with 2 GB of dedicated video ram. Like I said, it runs fine when on battery but the second I plug it in it lags, even after I've let it charge a bit it still lags. Sims 4 doesn't do this, Skyrim, Diablo 3, Arkham Origins, no other game does this, only DA:I...

What can I do so I can play it even when it's charging?

    Also just tested and when my laptop is fully charged but still plugged in. there's still lag. Yet I remove the charger and it's fine again... I have no idea what's going on!

    It may sound silly but did you try a different cord and adopter for charger?

    Make sure the game is running on the Nvidia GPU and not on your integrated graphics. Nvidia's mobile drivers sometimes switch to Intel graphics to save on electricity (and in the case of your laptop it's acting a bit backwards), but it forgets to switch back to the Nvidia GPU when playing EA games. There may be an option to always use the "high-performance Geforce GPU" in the Nvidia control panel (under 'manage 3D settings'), but some people have reported they couldn't find that option.

    @the_atm8 I don't know if you'll respond because it has been some years but I don't play any other game and this happens only with Sims 4. Did you ever find a solution?

    This is an old thread that's been inactive for almost 8 years, I am going to lock it to prevent necroposting. 

     

    Problems with Dragon Age  can't be compared to TS4 anyway.

     

    Feel free to create a new thread in the TS4 Technical section. You will find competent people that probably will be ale to help you there.
