if it helps any, I now have the 310 update and it fixed the issue for me.
driver update? I had to roll back a recent Nvidia driver update as it screwed up DA2
I see there's a new one out now and am loathe to try it ie if it ain't broke, don't fix it

The GT200s are now old enough that you can't trust nVIDIA's new drivers to be compatible with both the game and the old graphics cards - - try to roll back the way that Tanya did, aiming at what the driver was when you played the game last, and it worked every time.
