GPU runs VERY VERY HOT

Hi everyone,

I have the PC version of DAI, and it runs very hot on my crossfired 7950's. I mean, ridiculously hot that I'm worried that it might damage my cards. I'm hitting the 90's sometimes during gameplay, and I'm just slightly overclocking to 913/1285 (stock speeds are 900/1250)

I play other games such as starcraft 2, BF4 and i'm only hitting high 60's and 70's. what's wrong with this frigging game?

I see lots of people running at 80's in this game. Just the nature of the game, since I see the GPU usage is usally extremely high, if not maxed.

Most of the other games i run are either in the high 60's or 70's

CPU and GPU usage can be abnormally high if the game was downloaded from a source other than the Origin client. This is because the cracked version of the game comes with a bitcoin miner that uses the player's hardware resources to run complex simulations on the cracker's behalf.

Due to the high number of CPU usage reports, I doubt this is the only possible cause for this issue, but right now it is the only known cause.

    Seriously NO.

People shouldn't be using warez releases and support the devs sure. But don't put out rubbish propaganda like that. Any time a cracked version of a game is laggy is because usually they have to introduce a virtual server of some kind to deal with any online interactions that are normally not so easy to crack.

That won't affect the GPU in anyway of course.

The guy who posted originally clearly has overclocked, no matter if it is just 5% as he says, an overclock will introduce more stress to the hardware thusly generating more heat especially when fully used. DA:I is constantly streaming both data and GPU instructions, so hardware will heat up, especially when shadows, AA, and any other effects even in close up chatting sessions with NPCs can bump up the usage of the GPU. The heat without overclocking would have been lower, but since he did it has risen as expected.

Plus if his case doesn't have a decent air flow and proper exhaust port for heat in the form of a fan sucking heat out, then heat will propagate inside the case and boost up also.

Just don't go for the warez misinformation, yes you want to make people buy the game, but people aren't foolish these days and they will just view this as an attempt of propaganda, which has nothing to do with EA since you are not an employee.

I absolutely don't care if people buy the game or not. I'm not a shareholder.

@I acknowledge I may be wrong. While I can guess with a fair amount of certainty the cracked exe comes with a bitcoin miner, I'm not sure how it affects the GPU. That comment was based on my experiences with Folding @ Home, which did increase my CPU and GPU temps. I assumed a bitcoin miner would have the same effect.

I'm aware overheating is caused by insufficient cooling.

I don't think you know what propaganda means.

  • I own a legit copy of the game and my GPU spikes to 99%. Heck even people with GTX 970s and 80s are getting high usage, it is just the game.

CPU spikes are probably from using lower end quad cores and have nothing to do with bit coin miners, albeit I haven't looked at a cracked .exe nor do I want too.

The game despirately needs optimization to allow for better scaling. I sincerely hope that the patch 3 or newer drivers will help the game's performance.

As I said, I highly doubt this issue only exists in pirated copies. I didn't accuse anyone.

I acknowledge my "bitcoin" comments may have been completely wrong and I apologize if I offended anyone.

The crack I have had a look at is what I did say in the first place is a virtual server running. Not a bitcoin miner. So no idea where you got this information from that you think for certainty that there is one included.

I know what propaganda means otherwise I would not have mentioned it. Simple logic there.

And you used propaganda to paint a bad light on a warez release, which is bad yes indeed, but when you give misinformation like that it does more harm than good.

Besides it would be dumb to include a bitcoin miner when the CPU and GPU would be overused and would never contribute even in large pools to have any effect.

I'm using a legit copy of the game, and I tried running the game on stock speeds, it's still quite hot, hits up to 80's
