How is total Prestige calculated in Dragon Age multiplayer

I have checked the FAQ and other sources and cannot find or fathom an answer.

In DAI multiplayer you are allocated a total Prestige score (I am currently 258).

How is that calculated?

My Challenge Progress score total is 232, so I have 26 from somewhere else.

I have 12 characters, 6 of whom I have promoted once.

It's quite a mystery.

Prestige in DA:I MP combines challenge progress with promotions across characters, so totals can look off at first. For players who like precise tracking, I keep tools and notes at agecalculationar.com.
