Inquisition: Separate games, separate computers, shared collections?

I'm not sure how to describe my problem succinctly. Background: I am playing Inquisition on two different computers, totally separate games. I've got two games on my desktop computer at home, and a...

    @EmberVoices I unresolved it for you 🙂

    And yes, I'm not a fan of the way the saved game files are named, either. Through much tedium I managed to put all my finished characters within their own folders, after more than 10 characters it was a mess. 😛 I have never seen that cloudsave.tmp file in my save folder, though. Only .DAS and the two profile files (which I should have remembered to mention, don't copy those to other computers unless they have the same setup, it's where your graphics options etc. are saved). Was a cloud sync in progress or something when you looked?

    Don't quite understand what you mean by 'combine them'? Unless your second computer created characters with the same save number as the first computer, there shouldn't be an issue.

    Trying to explain save files with an uncooperative brain (so apologies, it hides words from me, or sometimes doesn't tell me when I'm typing the completely wrong word) :

    Each character has it's own save number... thing. That's how I think of it, anyway. Basically, all saves for one character will be the same "DAISAVEU###D91F3C39.DAS". The last 8 hexadecimal (0-9, A-F) digits are specific to each character. Every DAISAVEU (user/manual save), DAISAVECHAP (think this is like a checkpoint save), DAISAVEAUTO (autosave) and DAISAVEQUIK (quick save) will have those same 8 digits for one character. The user/manual saves also have the other 3 digits, which is really only useful to know if you're planning on using the save editor.

    So, as long as none of your separate characters have been assigned the same save number, you shouldn't have any issue merging your save folders (just... don't copy the 2 profile files, they should stay specific to the computer. And probably don't copy that temp cloud file, either). So if you copy your main computer saves onto the laptop, then disable cloud saving for the laptop (you can leave it on the other computer), or vice versa, you should have access to everything your other characters have exported to the nug, and you don't need to worry about the cloud overwriting your saves on either computer. Or if you don't want a giant mess on your laptop, only get the last save from each completed character to copy over. Then you'll have the nug and less mess. 😉

    As for the way the game files are organised, this is the first game Bioware have made using the Frostbite 3 engine (it's a completely separate game and engine from DAO and DA2, hence the need for the keep, the game files aren't compatible), so they probably didn't have much choice in the matter. It would be nice to be able to name our saves, though.

    OK... I think that maybe made sense? If it didn't, tell me which parts, I might do better with smaller parts at a time. 😛 Hope it helps. 🙂
