Installation Error: A redistributable package (SetupAddins.exe) was not

When performing the installation step, I receive the following error message "Error: A redistributable package (SetupAddins.exe) was not installed successfully. Setup cannot continue. (false)".  What needs to be done to correct this error and complete the installation?

Did anybody find a solution to this? I just got the Ultimate Edition and it's giving me the same error. The only difference is instead of saying (false) it gives a number (-1073741515).

Thanks for the reply, @EA_Zoe. Unfortunately, no luck so far. My WIndows is up to date and I already had Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2013. Installing 2015 did not fix the issue. Any other suggestions?

Nothing that I can think of @monkeykingzero. :/

I would suggest to contact the support team. To discuss with an Advisor simply fill out this form and select Technical support / Installation in the drop down menu. They will look into the issue for you.

    Thanks @EA_Zoe.

I think I found the solution. What I did was try launching SetupAddins.exe in the Dragon Age __Installer folder, which gave me another error message saying that a file called MSVCP100.dll was missing. So after a bit of searching, I found this thread (http://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin/How-I-fixed-my-MSVCR100-dll-and-MSVCP-dll-issue-for-Windows-10/m-p/4699873#U4699873) and removed the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributables (both x64 and x86 versions) as suggested. When I tried installing again, it worked.

Hope someone else finds this useful.

Awesome news @monkeykingzero!  Glad to hear it's resolved. Thanks for taking the time to share the solution with everyone.

Let us know if you have more questions.

  • I tried to follow the steps highlighted in the link, uninstalling Miscrosoft Visual C++ 2010 version, but... they actually weren't present on my new laptop (Windows 10, newly bought). Funnily enough, what fixed it for me was downloading those two files instead.
