You PC can easily run DAO.

For the error, you need NVIDIA PhysX installed on your PC to run the game.

go here > Download PhysX > Install > Restart the PC > Test

If that don't helps, create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply. You can do that with the "Choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.

  • I also keep getting this message when trying to launch: "Invalid License. Reason code = Missing DLL: [NxCharacter.dll] Error: 0x7E"

I had this with an AMD graphics card so no PhysX. To solve getting the error I had to run the game as an Administrator

You can also install PhysX if you have an AMD card.

As a matter of fact the game will run without running it as Administrator if you install PhysX on your system.

@holger1405 yes you can install PhysX but it won't actually run as AMD cards don't know how to talk to the PhysX API.

As far as I can tell there is something in the DAO runtime that Windows 11 does not allow to run without admin privileges. There are more than a few posts on here that say they have installed the PhysX install and still get this error so I assume Windows 11 is the issue and running the game as Admin seems to be the solution

The game needs PhysX to run, your CPU is capable of doing the PhysX calculations regardless of your GPU.

This people have different problem, the "Missing DLL: [NxCharacter.dll]" is always a missing PhysX error.

  • Tried playing Dragon Age: Origins again today and got the same error.

Solved it by using the same fix that was requiered 10 years ago (you could think they fixed it by now)

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Other-Dragon-Age-Games/Dragon-Age-Origins-PC-quot-physXLoader-dll-is-missing-from/td-p/3178000

"And the last thing I read that can fix it is by entering the directory where psyix is installed "C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Common",

copy all those dll files to the game directory under directory bin_ship."
