Landsmeet Glitch, Marrying Anora

So my glitches run like this, I am currently in a love triangle with Leliana and Morrigan, though Leliana has been hardened if I talk to her after proposing marriage with Queen Anora (atleast before the Landsmeet, only tried before the Landsmeet and waiting until after the Coronation) she will refuse to stay with me. Anyways, I tried to marry Anora and at first it seemed to act as if I would, she called me her king-consort at the Landsmeet. However after the Landsmeet, when I was going to fight the final fight with the Darkspawn it continued to show the Landsmeet on the active missoins list with my needing to go to the Landsmeet. At the end of the game Anora made no mention of marrying me nor did any other character mention it and in the post-credits she was mentioned as having rebuffed the idea of remarrying from her nobles. I was wondering if this might have been caused by the love triangle or by the mission log glitch or perhaps something else known to others?

I'm Sorry to say that I do not have any fix to that problem.

It seems like that is the only option that is bugged as well.

I can marry Anora if I let Loghain live.

If I support Anora as sole ruler, even if I kill Loghain, the quest also updates and vanishes from quest log after the post-landsmeet talk with Anora.

However, if I let Alistair kill Loghain, and choose to marry Anora afterwards, she will act as if I did not during the Post-landsmeet talk, and the landsmeet auest is still active after the talk.

I am not in a love triangle (at least I do not think so, I dumped Morrigan for a hardened Leliana)

It would be nice to just get a confirmation from someone that knows for sure if there is a way around it or not.

I just remembered that Anora mentions me being her betrothed during the ceremony at the end, but Leliana will not mention Anora if I talk to her after the ceremony before I leave.

But Leliana mentions Anora if I let Loghain live and the landsmeet quest is gone from questlog.

  • Just out of curiosity, I opened the Toolset and pulled up Anora's dialogue file.  I looked at the conversation options and all of the plot flags that are set/reset/unset depending on what you say to her.  What I can tell you is that Anora's conversation is a veritable field of landmines - :catlol:

Unfortunately, after following the flags and checking the corresponding plot files, it would appear that - in some circumstances presented by less orthodox conversation paths - you can wind up having one part of a conversation that will set all of the flags necessary to trigger the marriage of Anora and a male Cousland Warden, then by choosing another conversation option, one of the flags will be unset or reset to a different state, and that will cause the overall plot item to fail because not all of the required flags are set.  Um... yeah.  Confusing if you aren't a programmer or familliar with the logic, but basically, what I can tell you is that if you initially receive the line from Anora:

"Once I am coronated, I will take your hand as my consort."

Then the plot flags that are supposed to set and allow your Warden to marry her did trigger.

However, if you go back to talk to her at a later time, and she greets you with:

"We have our deal, Warden. If there is nothing else...?"

Then at some point, you have said something that will guarantee she will betray you at the Landsmeet.

I did not continue to dig through all of the connected conversations actually AT the Landsmeet, but from what I followed in the plot files, if BOTH of those are true, then it will require some specific actions and/or conversation options during the Landsmeet and after the duel to fix it with her.

If you are getting her agreement to the marriage and she is NOT betraying you at the Landsmeet, then for some reason, your save has a glitch that has caused one of the necessary flags to not be set.

Since you said that you also had the Landsmeet stuck in your quest log, I am guessing that the flag that is not properly setting is the one that tells the game that the Landsmeet is actually OVER.  it is a separate flag from all of the ones that determine Loghain's fate, who rules Ferelden, etc, but it is a vital flag, as it is also the one that the companion plot files look for to trigger any conversations regarding what will happen to the Warden after the Archdemon dies.  It is also one of the flags that the game looks at before it even checks the flags for what will be listed in the Epilogue, which is likely why you got the ending where Anora ruled alone.

After working on many fan-created mods and working on a few things of my own, I have also noticed that most of the time I've run into the glitch with the Landsmeet being stuck in the quest log like that, it has involved a male Cousland Warden who wished to marry Anora.  It may be a bad assumption, but I'm guessing that if I filtered through all of the various files and the logic connected to them, I would find that the bug is, indeed, triggered by Anora's conversation file.  Just a really strong hunch though, since like I said, I have NOT done this.

I have also noticed that it seems to happen more often on console versions of the game, or on PC versions where players have fan-created mods that alter any of the Landsmeet plots or dialogue files.

Probably WAY more information that you really wanted.  I'm a total game geek, so.... Sorry, but maybe this explains the problem a little?  :catembarrassed:

Anyway, as I said, I do some fan modding, and I am intimately familliar with the toolset.  If this is a genuine glitch that is messing up the game for a lot of people, then one would hope that BioWare would patch it, but since the game has been out for so very long, I'm guessing they're really more interested in supporting their current games than their older ones, and it's not gonna happen.  If you and others have a real interest in a fix, I would be willing to take a stab at a fan-made patch.  If it's mostly just your interest and one glitched save, if you would be willing to send me the save file, I would be happy to take a look at it and see which flags are at fault and set them for you so that you can load it and then hopefully get the dialogues and scenes you were expecting.

Feel free to drop me a PM.
