I googled the problem and apparently it happens on both Xbox and PlayStation. I couldn't find any fix or workaround. It's controller independent too, so switching doesn't do anything. Looks like a bug with the game and they're not going to fix it because patch support ended years ago. You could try contacting either EA or Xbox support, but EA support will likely tell you to post here again, and I don't think Microsoft is responsible for this.
