Left to Grieve bug - can't complete quest

I picked up one of the letters - the one near the Riverwatch camp - before I started the quest. It hasn't updated, and is still showing 6/7 letters found so I can't finish the quest. I've done a lot of stuff since then so loading a previous save isn't really an option. Does anyone know if there's a work around? And does finishing this quest lead to any other quests?

I'm playing on PC btw.

@perpetualascent I was having this issue too but I found it. It doesn’t light up when you do the search button. If you walk over by the broken cart by the dead animal I’m assuming was pulling the cart on the road, it’s by his back and the button to pick up the item will show. Again it doesn’t light up with the search button.
