Leliana opening chests

Okay, so I'm a rouge, but because I did not want my spend my points on lockpicking, I got Leliana to do that.

I'm lvl7 with a lvl1 mechanical expertise, and she's  lvl8 with a lvl3 mechanical expertise. And so I approach a chest (or like 10) that has a colored open lock symbol. Do that mean that someone should be able to open it? No idea. Anyway, every time I do that, Lelina says "Allow me". But when I switch to her, she never can. Sometimes I can unlock them myself,  but when I can't, she can never help me. Am I doing something wrong? 🤭

I got the Ultimate Edition through GOG and do not use any mods. Any help or insight would be amazing! :eahigh_file:

Yep.  It's a triggered line whenever the Warden fails to open a chest.  Both of the NPC rogues have one for that situation.  And both use their line even if they're not capable of actually opening the chest in question.

  • Hi, Red! (But what's that got to do with lock?)

The locks on chests have varying difficulties.

Some, any rogue with 1pt in lockpicking can open. Some require more. Sounds like you've found some chests with better locks than your, or her, skill level.

    Hahahaha! Lol, sorry XD
Well, English is not my first language, so I blame that... Though I shouldn't, as I play a lot of RPG, and always in English. Actually, I never knew this though. I do not read letters, I only read whole words or more often sentences at once, so I never noticed the difference! :D I'm so surprised by this now! I speak French so I know that rouge. I'm very bad at make-up terms though, I don't even know how that is spelt in Swedish, I just know how it sounds lol (might be the same spelling as it's a very weird word).. xD

Okay, so Rogue. I know how it's pronounced at least, I always pronounce what I write in my head :P

But is it not weird that she can't open any chests? Why are there so many high lvl chests on my lvl? And why does she say that she can help me when she cannot? And what does the icon mean? Colored open lock? There are some grey locks that are closed, why are they different? 🤔

Lockpicking skill is in part determined by the number of points you spent in 'cunning'. If the locks are too hard right now, invest more points in cunning when you level up.

Oh okay... And I saw that the grey locks needed a key. Maybe I'm walking around in an area that's a bit too high lvl for me then, seeing as like 1 in 10 chests are unlockable and I've almost maxed out Lelianas skill for opening locks :P
