Level Cap

Is there absolutely no way to increase the level cap? I have all the DLC and played with the "On Even Ground" Trial on, I am now at the max level 27 and I am not even close to finishing the game. A big part of the attraction of RPGs for me is the possibility of making your character smarter, stronger, faster. Without that the game loses a lot of its appeal. I know the game is getting a little old but will there ever be a patch to increase the level cap, there will probably not by any more DLC. Is there a Mod which increases the level cap? It feels like a bit of a waste killing enemies and completing quests without getting any XP.
