MAJOR GAME BREAKING BUG! Here Lies The Abyss Quest

Ok so Here Lies The Abyss questline, end of (or what I think is the end of) the uest, big battle in the keep where Warden Clarel is, end of that encounter, SPOILER!!!!!!!!!! Is bitten by Corypheus' dragon, she hits the dragon, dragon destroys the cliff, party falls off, fade to black. Now that's my problem, my game fades to black, and that's it, nothing happens and I have nothing but a continuous loading screen. This broke my game where I had to go back and start a new game and pour another 20 hours in just to get back to where I was, and then.....it happens again. Could someone please tell me what the hell is wrong with this and how can I fix it?

Playing on PC

Specs- GTX760 Nvidia, i5-4670K @3.70 ghz intel processor, 8gb ram

  • Can't help you with what the problem is, but you can save more than just using the autosave, you know. Try to make a full save (not a quick save) before starting each mission and when entering skyhold or each major zone. Try to keep 5-10 rolling full saves. Then you can load if bugs like this happen, and try to different things to experiment with getting past the problem.

Losing 20 hours and a full character because of 1 bug due to not saving is crazy. Just be thankful you weren't 60 hours in and on the final mission.

    Spoiler:

    Spoiler
After a cutscene, you're supposed to wind up in the fade.  Sounds like the game is freezing during the cinematic.

Well I do have a save and I could just ignore it but I actually want to do the mission? It does seem like an important one?

Yeah i'm pretty sure thats what the problem is. I fall into the fae, music fades out, loading icon still humming in the corner and that's it, loading icon stays there, screen black and nothing, I left it alone for like 20 minutes and still nothing.

  • If it is with different characters or save sets, then most likely it is an issue with the game or with the game on your PC rather than a corruption of a save.

    Things to try.....

    1)  Use the Repair function of Origin to see if it will fix your issue.

    2)  Ck for driver updates, both video and sound.

    3)  Lower graphics quality, Including AA.

    4)  Lower priority of the game in taskmanager to below normal.

    5)  If you are running windows 8, then try compatiblity mode Win7.

    6)  Long shot and can cause issues if done wrong, ck for upgrade to your MoBo bios.

    7)  Play in windowed mode instead of fullscreen.

As has been suggested, repair the game, make sure the game, your GPU drivers and, your OS are upto date. Disable unneeded background processes, close any other programs.
