Mantle API - Compatible and Selectable?
Seen a lot of reports that users are unable to select the Mantle API over DirectX. Confirm/Deny? Expected update for Mantle?

I hadn't heard of DDU until just now, but what it does is almost identical to what I wrote above. The key steps are disabling Windows update from going and fetching the new driver automatically and manually uninstalling the driver in device manager, including deleting the files.
Using DDU should be way easier though.
Okay, mantle still doesn't work. Uninstalled catalyst... rebooted...opened DDU v13.5.1.3... rebooted into safe mode and ran it.... rebooted....installed catalyst 14.11.2...rebooted....ran Inquisition. It runs nicely with most settings on low, but I can't enable mantle. Here are my specs:

As you can see, the cpu is below the minimum required. But 1: I can already run the game and 2: It appears that catalyst found my 7000 series graphics card compatible with mantle, and installed it. So what gives?

- Try this again. Right before you get the to step where you install the beta driver, open up the device manager and look in Display adapters. If your card is listed as "Radeon HD xxxx" or some string that identifies your actual card, a driver is still installed somewhere. Windows update will do this to you and actively sabotage you while you try to clean install the beta driver.
What you want it to say in device manager is something like "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter". That way you know the driver is actually, genuinely uninstalled and the beta driver installation will go cleanly and enable mantle support.Thanks Admiral! Okay, it isn't windows update. I'm guessing there's something off about the HD 7660 specifically. I can run the game fine under directx11; I have 20-35fps with the meshes, textures, terrain and water on medium; still, mine is just the sort of machine which would benefit greatly from mantle. <heavy sigh>
