My headset mic appears to not be recognized by Dragon Age. Windows knows it's there, and other applications can use it. (Skype, etc). But when I try to talk in multiplayer, it never picks up my voice and I can't see the icon indicating I'm talking.Here's an odd twist - If I am on a skype call with a friend of mine, and that friend is in the multiplayer lobby, then my mic works (for the whole lobby). The friend in skype can hear me twice (Skype and Dragon Age). As soon as I hang up Skype, though - I'm unable to talk in the lobby.I've tried multiple headsets and multiple audio ports, same thing each time. This is on PC - all drivers are up to date.Any ideas?

Having the same issue. It would be really nice if there was any kind of microphone setup tool in game or Origin that allowed for seeing exactly what is going there.I'm assuming as is it either picks the mic up or not an then automatically sets the volume levels however it wants?

If you check your Control Panel > Sound options, can you check that your headset/mic is set as the default device? Perhaps somehow when the game is running your PC is trying to use something else as the default sound capture? Then perhaps when Skype starts, it uses the mic as the main capture device, activating it in the game too

Yup - it's definitely the default device once it it plugged in, and I've verified through the control panel. I've checked and nothing seems to "happen" once skype is loaded either. It seems like every application (except Dragon Age) recognizes it as a default device. I'm only able to trick Dragon Age into recognizing it if I'm running skype in parallel.

I also cannot get my mic to work with DAI. Scratch that, ANY of my mics. USB or minplug, doesn't matter if I use my soundcard or onboard sound. Disabling everything BUT the mic in question. Altering options on the mic (say, disabling exclusive control, or enabling it). Running DAi as admin, disabling programs that might possibly interfere, ENABLING programs that might interfere (never tried voice recognition before on my PC before). I've tried everything. I even tried to mickey around with the "GstAudio.VoipBehavior" (no clue what it actually does in game, but it seemed worth a shot) option in the profile config. I was hoping the patch today would do something, but nada. And I am at my wits' end.I can get mics to work in everything else, including the Origin Beta Voice Chat and ME3. But DAI refuses to use anything, and because frostbite and it's sad excuse for config files and it's even more sad and meager options in the menus continue to be arcane voids of non-information, I can't seem to figure out what could possibly be causing it.

I am having the same issue.
Mic is the default device.
Other applications use it fine.
But DAI doesn't seem to see it, whether I use push to talk or not.

My mic used to work fine, now its just not being recognised at all by DA, it actually cut out at some point during games, was working fine for 1st couple then at some point it just stopped working leaving me talking to myself. Its not an issue with the mic as it works just fine in every other program/game, its just DA seems to have suddenly decided to stop recognising it.

I just noticed this problem because everything was working fine last month.... I also had this problem in ME3, EA support was NO help at all that time, I had to plug in a USB headset to hear voice chat and use default speakers to hear game, when I tried either device for both, couldn't hear voice. Both during the ME3 incident and in DAI, Steam chat, Skype, Goggle Voice, all work fine. Windows Microphone tests passed, levels showed fine... Only the Game in question was affected (DAI/ME3)

After Weeks of searching, trouble shooting, restores and driving my Multiplayer Buddy crazy with attempts to be heard/hear this is what I came up with:
-- Microphone: I turned my Input Level and Boost DOWN... yes I know this seems counterproductive but apparently if the mic boost is set too high, it overwhelms the sound channel
-- Speakers not hearing Player Voice: Somehow (I do not understand how since I did not mess with the files in question until I attempted to fix them) my ProfileOptions_profile file was changed from the settings it had a month prior.
Solution: I copied the ProfileOptions_profile file from another machine that my DAI was installed on and replaced the Corrupted?? one
The file can be found in Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save
Although PLEASE NOTE I used a text Editor Program (Notepad++) to edit the Resolution and monitor refresh values to match my PC so as not to freak out my monitor upon loading DAI

Or you could simply adjust these settings in the options on the Machine that does work to match a Res/Ref the malfunctioning Machine can handle before copying the "clean" ProfileOptions_Profile

I'm having the same problem with ME3. I can hear my voice perfectly when I'm on Origin's settings testing the microphone, but I go to the game and can't hear a peep.

I assume your friends cannot hear you, when you're trying to play together, right?

Do you use the in-game chat or do you create a voice chat in Origin?
