Is it normal for the game's audio to go silent or not play at all when alt tabbing out of the game to another window? Seems wierd. there should be music or something... no?

That is the default. There's a setting that controls that. Go to options/audio and scroll down to the bottom. Then there's 'background voice chat' and 'audio ignores window focus'

I think most games default to letting the game music play while defocused, but you need to toggle it on in DAI.

Game Options>Audio>Uncheck "Audio Focus" By doing so, music will play continuously when not in the sims 4 windows.
