No party banter After latest patch, PS3

I just downloaded the latest update for the Ps3 last weekend. There was never a lot of party banter before but now my companions are mute and dont talk at all while exploring. This is a new character after the update. I didnt realize my inquisitor was that intimidating to render them into silence! Any ideas?
