[Old Report] Physically Stuck in War Room in Haven

I just started a new playthrough when I encountered what is looking like a game breaking bug. After the cutscene where Cassandra announces her intention to start the inquisition, my character loads into the war room. As in, the physical war room in Haven that apparently exists.

None of the doors are usable. Because it's a new game, there are no outside areas available for fast travel. There are no fast travel points in Haven. DAI is sadly lacking a way to disable doors or phase through with a plate a la Skyrim. As such, I've been stuck for over an hour.

I've tried reloading prior saves and going through the cutscene (over and over again), removing all my mods, restarting the game, restarting the computer, restarting origin, scouring the Internet and finding nothing, and running around the war room looking for anything that could let me out. No luck with anything above.

I'm running the latest patch, launching through origin in
Windows 8.1 on Bootcamp on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro.
I don't really think it's a hardware issue since I can easily run the game on all high and ultra settings.

Suffice to say, I have no clue what's going on and I've never encountered a serious bug like this. Any suggestions that don't involve creating ANOTHER new game would be greatly appreciated.

  • Not sure if you are stucked by doors or simply can't move.

In the second case, mine, i figured out the solution. The problems are these files:

    be_frostbackmountains_item1_o.sb
    be_frostbackmountains_item1_o.toc

    located in

    :\Dragon Age Inquisition\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\BlackEmporium\Data\Win32\da3\layouts\frostbackmountains\frostbackmountains

    and these:

    frostbackmountains.sb

    frostbackmountains.toc

    frostbackmountains_launch.sb

    frostbackmountains_launch.toc

    located in

    F:\Dragon Age Inquisition\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\Patch\Data\Win32\da3\layouts\frostbackmountains\frostbackmountains

Maybe the problem it's just about the 1st couple above, you need to check if they are in the folders and if they are updated to the same time you did install the blackemporium update.

The real problem is about filename lenght. To move it from other folders you need to rename them, and to do so you must be inside winrar or 7zip. no other way.

@mmngle Hmm, I can't say that i've seen it happen at the Haven War Room before, but in some cases where the Inquisitor loads in the wrong area, this can be avoided by turning graphical settings way down, just before the cutscene in question.

So please try loading an earlier save, swap to potato graphics, then let the scene in question play, then hopefully the scene will load you in the right spot after completion.

    It didn't fix the issue.

  • 500+ hours and I don't remember ever being in control in the War Room...so why does it even exist?

    Very weird...subbed to thread.

Hate to bring up an old thread but I have just encountered this problem too. Twice. I restarted a whole new game just to see if it fixed it and it did not. Tried 'potato' graphics, tried loading earlier save and doing it over, tried triggering something with a few moves but I am a rogue and there's no fireball fix on this one. Help! I want to play through again, but I can't get past being stuck in the war room in haven!

    Hey Everyone

As this thread is a bit old at this point, things have changed and been updated, we are going to lock this down so that we can prevent any necro-posting.
