[Old Report] Witch Hunt dlc crashes during Lights of quest

When I click on the objects or just reach a certain point in the Cadash thieg the game just crashes. Repairing and reinstalling doesn't do anything. Sorry for lack of clarity before, originally wrote this at 3am.

  • I don't mean to necropost, but this is the first post I came across while googling, so thought I might add it here for future googlers.

    I just encountered this problem and struggled a fair bit, then remembered I had the same issue in Denerim a long while ago, and the trick I found to fix it, which also seems to have fixed it here.

    Before all that, you can also set the compatibility of daorigins.exe to "Windows xp Service pack 2" and run as admin. It might fix things.

    Now for the tricky part :

    If you open the task manager, select the Daorigins process in "processes", you can right click to go to details. From there, right click on the daorigins process once more and select "Set Afiinity". Here if you untick all the CPU except CPU 0, it should solve your issue. Granted, you'll get some small lag in game, but you'll be crash free.
    Please note that this is not to be attempted if you have to google "open task manager" 🙂 I doubt it'll break your pc, but let's not push it.

    @jariahxsynn

    Thanks, I appreciate it.

    If you haven't already can you try running the Windows System File Checker tool to see if it's able to identify any missing or corrupted system files? I've seen some cases in the past where that can lead to similar issues. For more info on how to run it check out the Microsoft Support website. Let me know how that goes once you've had a chance to try it. Thanks again.

  • Sorry to get back to you so late. I gave it one last try before doing as you suggested and it did not crash. I managed to finish the dlc finally so I guess problem solved for now. Though it's weird that the game has this issue and then corrects itself when it wants too. Thank you for the help either way.

    Hey Everyone

    As this thread is a bit old at this point, things have changed and been updated, we are going to lock this down so that we can prevent any necro-posting.

    @Tygolio Appreciate the info on getting that to work!

    If you run into any further issues please create a new thread or add your information to an existing thread so that we can begin tracking accordingly!

    Cheers!
