Origin Update: Horrible performance

I am suddenly having terribad performance. Stuttering (including audio), frame drops, etc. even on the start-up screen. Task Manager shows me my CPU load is going from 70% up to 95% with lots of spiking, so my average should be around 85% CPU load ... in the start-up screen I might reiterate (i5 3570K CPU).

In-game, I notice stuttering and late texture loading (my precious throne in Skyhold didn't show up for until around ten seconds after I wondered where my bloody throne was).

Did not experience such issues before the Origin update.

On going investigation into high resource allocation/usage, poor performance, crashes

go to the very first post in this thread, read the whole thing, and near the bottom, it gives instruction on how to roll back your game to

    pre patch condition.

I'm talking about the Origin update, not the DAI patch. Prior to the DAI patch, the game was crashing all the time, so I'd rather not try to roll it back to that state.
