Patch 2- inquistor's facial features (freckles/scars) gone after patch 2

After downloading patch 2 most of the characters got shinny hair and the freckles my inquisitor had are missing.

anyone having the same or related issue?

  • My Inquisitor's freckles and his scar are completely gone. I restarted the game I don't know how many times to get him just right, and then the patch goes and screws me over. ☹️ I don't want to start over again, and I FINALLY got him looking perfect. I hope this is just a bug and not a deliberate choice.

  • So, this is their official line:

"If you would like to correct this change, you can set your mesh quality to High or Ultra. This will enable features that are disabled on lower settings, but may impact your framerate and performance"

    Which is a lie.

  • Yeah I have the same problem with the ultra-shiny hair and scars I checked both my current characters and the character creator but all scars have vanished except for the ones on characters such as Cassandra. I noticed that freckles (even on character such as Harding) have gone and in their place as these same really old looking wrinkled faces in the character creator (three in fact all the same texture of ultra-wrinkled).

Yeah. I've been having the same issue. Hopefully there will be a simple hotfix to revert out Toons back to their original created forms... I really miss my freckles and scars... they're defining features :catsad:

Note: Also all saves are affected, even loading up old ones or other characters that had freckles ha.

Maybe they'll throw something in to edit appearance instead of a hotfix? Who knows.

Here is the solution until the hotfix is out. According to the upcoming hotfix notes, using low settings will not fix the complexion issue.

    POST FROM BIOWARE:

    Hey Everyone,

We're working on getting a hot fix out for the PC graphics issue as soon as possible. In the meantime, here is a workaround you can try:

To start, make sure the quality setting you choose is equal to the setting set for Mesh Quality inside Options>Graphics

You will need to add a new command line parameter. To do this:

    Through Origin:
Right click on the Dragon Age Inquisition title
    Go to game properties
Type the command line parameter in the Command Line Properties box.

    Through shortcut:
    Right Click Shortcut
    Go to Properties

Under target go to the end of the field and type the command line parameter into the box
Once there, add the following command line parameter: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel <quality setting>

In this instance, <quality setting> should be one of the following:

    Ultra
    High
    Medium
    Low

An example of how to set your quality to high would be: -ShaderSystem.ShaderQualityLevel High

Please note that once the hot fix is out, you will need to go back in and remove this workaround from your command line.

It’s also important to note that pre-patch 2, all users on PC were being forced to use the Ultra shader quality. This means that those of you playing on lower settings will notice a decrease in quality, particularly players using low or medium settings.
To achieve the same visuals as pre-patch, users on lower settings will need to change their settings to Ultra, which should likewise be used in conjunction with Ultra mesh quality. Mismatching the mesh and shader settings will result in other visual artifacts like overly shiny hair.
Please be aware that changing settings to Ultra may impact performance on some machines.

Sorry about any frustration this may have caused.

  • The solution didn't actually bring my character's freckles or scar back at all, and upon trying to create a new character, I noticed the freckles options and all the scars have vanished.

The hotfix is now live so you can remove the command line.

You can adjust how your character's freckles and scars appear by setting the 'Mesh Quality' level in the game's video options.
