(PC) DA: Origins/Awakening: Corrupted Saves
Corrupted Save files are causing me a lot of grief, forcing me to reply large parts of the game and losing hours of game time. Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated!
1. What version of the game are you playing: physical disc or digital download (along with which vendor)?
Digital Download (Origin), v1.04 2.

Details about your problem.
1. What is the nature of the problem you are seeing?
Dragon Age crashes periodically (every 30 minutes or so). When trying to load save files, sometimes previous saves are corrupted and cannot be loaded. Sometimes it's only the most recent, sometimes it's up to the last 4 - 5 saves. The saves span multiple areas.
2. When did the problem start occurring?
Partway through the DA:O OC (by loading previous saves and continuing from there, am now about halfway through the Awakening Expansion). Corrupted Save have occured after crashes or after normal game exits, but not always.
3. Where does your problem occur? Throughout the entire game. In some areas it is more likely to occur than others, eg. the Keep Basement/Deep Roads or Dwarven Fort areas of Awakening. The saves can be multiple saves in 2 to 3 areas. Care has been taken not to sell too many objects to one vendor (and the corruptions don't happen specifically after loot has been sold, but does seem to happen more often when a lot of loot has been collected (much to my chagrin)). I currently have 46 files in the save folder for the current character, taking up altogether 163 MB.
4. What are the steps in replicating the problem? As above.
5. Have you modified your game in any way? Nope.
Hello again!
Unfortunately it's been a while since I've been able to actually try out what you suggested. So, sorry for that.
After patching to 1.05, I still run into crashes on a regular basis. Which is frustrating, since your solution seemed like a perfect match.
However, on the corrupted save front I was able to make some headway. The amount of files in *all* save folders exceeded 114 files (I think that was the magic number) and after deleting all save files besides the current save (and epilogue saves of other characters), I haven't gotten a corrupted save file since.
So, corrupted saves - solved.
