[PC] DA2 - Ultimate Edition was downgraded

Hello.

It says I own the Standard Edition of Dragon Age 2 but I had bough the Ultimate one like a year and a half ago if not more.

When in game, my DLCs don't work at all. I recently bought an EA Play subscription for other games via Steam and downloaded the game (DA2) with Steam too. Since then, my edition is downgraded to Standard and my DLCs aren't working.

The App is also suggesting me to buy the game again.

What can I do?

  • @EA_ShepardSo I rebooted my PC and all the DLC were in game. EA App still shows that I own the Standard Edition, but when I download the game all the DLC appears in the add-ons available. I believe it was a bug, nothing more? Now I can play the DLC in game 🙂

Another matter is that my Dragon Age Keep doesn't seem to work to upload a world save to DA:I. I keep having the ''Oops'' message. I searched through the threads here and saw that people had the same issue. I tried clearing my PC, my web browser and everything else but the Keep still doesn't work anymore. What a bummer...

Edit: What I mean by that is that I can't access the tapestry. No matter how many time I try to, no changes can be done and nothing even appears.

Exactly what the title says: few months ago I replayed DAO and DA2, I got the Ultimate Edition of them both back when they were on sale 3 years ago. AFAIK, I had some initial troubles with getting DA2 DLCs to work, but eventually I was able to play the game with them completely fine.

Fast-forward to 2024, I want to download DA2 on my new PC, and suddenly in my library there's only standard edition of DA2 with no DLCs, the EA App says I have Black Emporium DLC, and the game's page in Steam shop (when entered via browser, not the app), clearly says I own the Ultimate Edition.

I tried possibly every solution, changing the manifest files, reinstalling, booting DAO first and connecting to my account there (servers are down since forever), trying to download the long gone Origin app, syncing my career at DA Keep, still nothing to the point when after third reinstallation of both game and DLCs I am stuck in EA App booting loop.

I just feel both tired and honestly gaslit by EA/Steam, because I clearly remember buying both games on sale BECAUSE of the DLCs, some of which are inaccessible to me rn. And for the record, DAO works just fine, although for some reason I have both standard and the Ultimate Edition in my library. Games are supposed to be about having fun, not spending 4 hours of your free time trying to get it to work. The only method I did not try yet is using some obscure third-party DLC unlocker, but I should not have to resort to borderline piracy to play a game that I owned since 2021 and was able to play just a few months earlier.

I'm not necessarily looking for solutions any more, I just want to vent... I do not believe that there are any tips and tricks I did not see after scourging the internet for hours — but if you know of something that's not widely posted online, please let me know.

@charlithelibruh When you launch the game through the EA app, once the game is open, do you see the DLCs installed there? What exactly on the DLCs are not working?

I have the UE as well and not all DLCs are there. They did do some bundling with Mass Effect so it looks like they may have done the same with DA II but I am going to check on that one.

EA Play for Steam is a separate sub from EA Play for the EA app, so the games would work differently if you have it in Steam.

I am downloading it now to test mine out. The games can't be downgraded unless you had EA Play and the sub ran out, but if you already owned the content, something like a refund would have had to happen in order for it to be downgraded. That was not the case here.

Also, when I start the download, it shows I have 13 downloads but before I download the game it shows 4. Does your download show this?

@pastorauka Hey, if you owned the UE as a purchase and it was not obtained through EA Play, that cannot be downgraded, unless you got a refund, or the seller reported the code or something that would require the game to be changed on the account.

If you made no changes, the content is still linked to the account. Now depending on if you bought it through Steam or through the EA app, that would be very separate purchases, so you could technically own one edition through Steam and one edition through the EA app itself.

With Steam, you can download the DLC through this article. but if you own the UE, and you own the DLC, that cannot be changed.

We would need more info from you on what isn't working.

    @charlithelibruh Hi,

Glad you can play your dlcs now x)

As for the keep it seems to be an ongoing (and sorta recurring) issue as those two threads suggest

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Dragon-Age-Inquisition/Keep-Oops-An-error-as-occurred-Please-refresh-the-page-and-retry/td-p/13393206

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any workaround at the time except to wait and hope for the team behind the Keep to fix the issue

@charlithelibruh So the game icon for everyone should be the standard edition and not whichever edition you originally purchased. I am working to get some messaging up for everyone as that as been a thing players are concerned about.

As for the Keep. They are working on this separately and trying to get that updated. Due to the limited support and age of the keep, since DAI has no real updates, its not at the top of the list, but it is being worked I do know that. I asked for an update yesterday, so I am waiting on them to see what they are going to be doing with the keep.

It is not your account, it is the actual site.
