[PC] Inquisition Cut-scenes still choppy after fix

Hi guys, I have been having some problems with Dragon Age: Inquisition’s cut scenes. Bear in mind that I have been using the fix to unlock the 30fps limit. Now the in-game runs smooth like silk 60 fps all the time. But unfortunately when it switches to dialogues and cut-scenes there’s a weird choppy effect like if the frames were missing and character’s animations aren’t natural. Although it isn’t game breaking, it is extremely annoying and I don’t want to go further before I fix this.

Normally my settings are on Ultra, expect a few setting are on Medium or High. I play at 2560x1440 144Hz (native display). I have tried every possible variation of settings, the same problem persists even on the lowest graphical settings and resolution. Before using the fix for unlocking the cut-scene 30fps limit it was much worse as if I was experience huge periods of lag. But still after using the fix, it’s not as bad but it’s persists in a highly visible manner. When I checked my CPU usage it never goes beyond 30-40% so I recon it’s not my CPU. My PC configuration is above the recommended one yet this issue persists.

Is anyone experiencing something similar? Is there any tip or advice you can offer me? Is Bioware offering a fix for this issue?

Thank you in advance for your help.

My Spec :

  • There's choppinness in cutscenes because the framerate fix doesn't actually make the animations smoother. The cutscenes are rendered at 60fps, but the character animations still only have 30 keyframes ever second. Background effects like smoke and snow are 60fps, but the character animations are not.

  • Hi there Fred_vdp,

Thank you for your answer. I really appreciate your help.

I see, so the framerate fix unlocks the FPS but the doesn't make the animations smoother.

But without the fix the cut-scens are way way way worse, they're not 30 FPS it's like they're 2-3 FPS.

So my choices are extreme choppy laggy cut-scenes or slightly choppy laggy cut-scenes.

I've pre-oredered the game and yet I have not managed to properly play yet it because this bothers me a lot.

I know that in the beginning of December big patches were released that fixed many problems. Unfortunately it didn't fix my problem. Is there any plans of further fixes and patches?

    Thank you for your help.

I'm just a player, like you, but the BioWare devs said two more patches are in the works. There's no release date for either of them.

  • Hey Fred_vdp,

    Thanks again for your input!

I see, we'll have to wait a bit then. Hopefully someone from BioWare will read this!

BioWare devs are active on http://forums.bioware.com , though they haven't posted much lately, probably because many of them are on vacation.
